Introduction to Intramurals
The TVCC Intramural Program is designed to provide an opportunity for experiential learning for the entire student body through participation in organized activities. We strive to encourage lifelong recreation skills, to integrate participants socially in an athletic setting, and to foster a spirit of sportsmanship and fair play among participants and spectators. To accomplish this goal, the Intramural Program offers a variety of team and individual activities.

Employment Opportunities
PhotoThe Intramural Sports Program encourages and promotes sport officiating as a part-time hobby by hiring and employing nearly ten students per year. Previous experience as an official is desirable but not required. Intramural Sports officials are allowed to compete in Intramural Sports contests when not scheduled to work. Meetings are scheduled prior to the commencement of games to give interested students information about the training, pay rate, and expectation.

Health and Safety

Many intramural sports activities present the inherent possibility of injury. Participation in the program is voluntary and individuals assume responsibility for their own health and safety. All individuals who intend to participate in vigorous sports should, for their own protection, have a physical examination to determine that they are physically able to participate. We also encourage that students have personal medical insurance, which would cover expenses incurred in the event of injury. Each participant is required to complete an indemnity agreement, medical release, and program participant release prior to their participation in any intramural activity.

How to Participate
  1. Official registration forms are available at the Student Programs Office in the Weese Building. Entries should be typed or written legibly.

  2. The captain/chairperson must completely fill out the requested information at the top of the entry. The section of the entry certifying all participant eligibility must have been signed.

  3. All activities have an entry deadline. The Student Programs office must receive entries by 5:00 pm that day. All entries received after the deadline will be put on a waiting list.

  4. Team and individual entries will be accepted no earlier than one week in advance of the entry due date.

Eligibility

All current students who have paid Services Activities fees and full-time faculty and staff members* are eligible to participate in the intramural sports program.

* For intramural competition purposes, a full-time faculty and staff member is defined as a faculty or administrative staff member who is in a budget-line position, an adjunct faculty member, an associate staff member, or a member of the service or clerical staff who is employed on a regular basis.
